"A rajzokban ott marad a mozdulat, a történetekben ott marad a lélek."
Thirty-three young people aged 14 to 24 gathered on the MOME Campus at the invitation of the Ministry of Education and Child Affairs to explore questions of participation and the future of education through creative, dialogue-based methods. The workshop is the first stage in a longer collaboration, and is aimed at giving the young people involved a real role in shaping the conversation around issues that affect them, drawing on their own experiences and ideas.
How can the impact of a future heatwave in Budapest’s District XII be given perceptible spatial form? How can the path of rainwater rushing down through Hegyvidék during heavy rainfall be made visible? And how can drought in the district be made tangible? These are some of the questions explored in Data in Space, a course developed as part of the CLIMAAX programme by second-year students on MOME’s Digital Object Design BA. Created with the support of MOME Zero / Ecological Sustainability Office and in collaboration with the Green Office of the Municipality of Hegyvidék, the projects use data physicalisation to examine climate risks affecting Budapest’s District XII.
This year, the MOME community celebrated the graduates of twelve MA and nine BA courses in a festive ceremony. Speeches were given by interior designer Mrs. Bánki née Laura Szerdahelyi, one of our jubilee graduates, who turns 91 this year and designed the interiors of Déli Railway Station; Curator and László Moholy-Nagy’s grandson Daniel Hug; and designer Stefan Lengyel, who is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year. In addition to conferring the degrees, this year’s Rector’s Special Awards and several professional awards were announced, and the Gold, Diamond and Iron jubilee graduates also received their certificates.
What happens when it is not adults, but secondary school students, who begin thinking about the future? Ten student teams presented their ideas at this year’s final, with participants reflecting together on the kinds of relationships that humans might develop with technology and nature twenty years from now. This year’s theme was the forest. The visions presented by the participants touched on climate change, urban life, automated systems, collective responsibility, and the possibility of reconnecting with nature. First prize from the jury went to Sketch Squad, with dECO taking second place and Erdei Remeték third. Seven special prizes were also awarded at the final, recognising the different strengths, approaches, and community values of the submissions.
An innovative project to develop a family-focused hospital ward has been launched through a collaboration between Ronald McDonald House Charities Hungary, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, and the Semmelweis University Pediatric Center. It is designed to support children receiving long-term inpatient care, as well as family members staying with them, by creating a family-friendly ward environment. As part of the collaboration, MOME’s team will also design a space-saving, multifunctional piece of furniture to make hospital stays more comfortable for the family members accompanying the children.
A Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem 2026-os mestermunkái idén is arról adnak képet, mi foglalkoztatja a pályára lépÅ‘ alkotó-tervezÅ‘ generációt: a kiállÃtott munkák személyes nézÅ‘pontból közelÃtenek társadalmi, környezeti és technológiai kihÃvásokhoz.
For years, the visual identity of the MOME Diploma event series has been based on a concept selected through an open call. This tradition is closely tied to the university’s educational profile. For students, building the visual world of the Diploma is an excellent opportunity to take on a complex communication challenge as independent designers, drawing on what they have learned in graphic design, photography, or media design. Created specifically for the occasion, the identity also serves as a visual snapshot of its time, tying together the annually recurring Diploma process and giving it a distinctive, memorable character.
LenyűgözÅ‘ kötött anyagok és sziluettek, mesebeli lények, egy elhagyott gyárépület, egy ikonikus lámpa, egy pöttyös labda, személyes élmények: a Moholy-Nagy Művészeti Egyetem (MOME) korábbi rektori diplomadÃjas munkái idén júniusban fÅ‘városi citylight-plakátokon mutatkoznak be.
10 student visions about the relationship of people and forests.
From robot-assisted forest protection, living materials, water-retention systems and urban concepts to apps supporting mental wellbeing, soil renewal, and community care, the entries submitted to the 2026 Jump into the Future! creative competition explore how humans and nature can live together more responsibly, from technological, ecological, and social perspectives. This year’s competition invited students to rethink the relationship between forests and humans. Looking twenty years ahead, students in grades 7–10 imagined the role forests could play in the cities, communities, and everyday life of the future, and how we might protect them and help them thrive.
