"A rajzokban ott marad a mozdulat, a történetekben ott marad a lélek."
This year, the MOME community celebrated the graduates of twelve MA and nine BA courses in a festive ceremony. How can the impact of a future heatwave in Budapest’s District XII be given perceptible spatial form? How can the path of rainwater rushing down through Hegyvidék during heavy rainfall be made visible? And how can drought in the district be made tangible? These are some of the questions explored in Data in Space, a course developed as part of the CLIMAAX programme by second-year students on MOME’s Digital Object Design BA. Created with the support of MOME Zero / Ecological Sustainability Office and in collaboration with the Green Office of the Municipality of Hegyvidék, the projects use data physicalisation to examine climate risks affecting Budapest’s District XII.
An innovative project to develop a family-focused hospital ward has been launched through a collaboration between Ronald McDonald House Charities Hungary, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, and the Semmelweis University Pediatric Center. It is designed to support children receiving long-term inpatient care, as well as family members staying with them, by creating a family-friendly ward environment. As part of the collaboration, MOME’s team will also design a space-saving, multifunctional piece of furniture to make hospital stays more comfortable for the family members accompanying the children.
