Thirty-three projects were chosen for the 14th CEE Animation Forum from more than 160 submissions. Taking place in Plzeň from 10 to 12 November 2026, the international industry event will feature seven animated feature films, ten series and television specials, ten short films, and six student films.  

Two of the six projects in the Student Short Films category are Hungarian, and both are being produced by MOME Anim. “In my film How to Become a Landlord, I play myself, bringing a very muscular, handsome piece of land to life, seducing him and becoming his landowner. Our relationship soon descends into chaos, however, when I begin renting him out to others,” said Abigél Dérczy, who also developed the film with support from the Stefan Lengyel Scholarship of Excellence. 

Petra Lili Szilágyi’s At Least the Weather Is Nice follows the everyday yet extraordinary moments unfolding in a downtown park as the seasons change. Children, lovers, and people experiencing homelessness circle the Saturn statue at its centre, their lives and stories becoming intertwined through a series of small encounters. Then, on a still spring day, a tree is blown over. The park is closed, and for a while, the lives of several of its regular visitors are changed. The other projects in the category come from students at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM), the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU), the Bauhaus University Weimar, and the New Bulgarian University. 

In addition to these two projects, two more Hungarian works have been shortlisted in other sections of the forum. Competing in the feature-length animation category is The Ghost of the Riverbend by MOME lecturer Bálint Gelley, while the short film category includes Half Open Half Pose by MOME lecturer Fábián Balogh. Both filmmakers are members of the MOME alumni. 

Back to Tomioka has also been selected for the CEE Animation 2026 Pitching Projects programme, marking another strong success for Hungarian animation. Produced as an international co-production, the feature brings together Foliascope (France), WJTEAM (Poland), WRONG MEN (Belgium) and Hungarian partner Cinemon Entertainment, with co-producer Réka Temple overseeing the Hungarian side of the production. The story follows two siblings orphaned by the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Raised together in a refugee camp and bound by an unbreakable bond, they later embark on a dangerous journey to fulfil their late grandmother’s final wish. 

The CEE Animation Forum is one of Europe's leading events for animation pitching, financing, and co-production. During the pitching sessions, filmmakers and producers present their projects in concise, targeted presentations to potential partners, financiers, broadcasters, and distributors. As well as helping projects gain visibility, the forum supports their development by providing professional feedback, fostering new partnerships, and opening up opportunities for international co-production. 

Projects selected for the 2026 programme will compete for cash prizes and in-kind awards worth more than €50,000, including places on leading European training programmes, participation in international film markets, and a range of industry services.
