News
This year, the MOME community celebrated the graduates of twelve MA and nine BA courses in a festive ceremony. Speeches were given by interior designer Mrs. Bánki née Laura Szerdahelyi, one of our jubilee graduates, who turns 91 this year and designed the interiors of Déli Railway Station; Curator and László Moholy-Nagy’s grandson Daniel Hug; and designer Stefan Lengyel, who is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year. In addition to conferring the degrees, this year’s Rector’s Special Awards and several professional awards were announced, and the Gold, Diamond and Iron jubilee graduates also received their certificates.
What stories lie behind the objects people leave behind on Budapest’s public transport? How can design create joyful objects for blind and partially sighted people? What does design have to say about digital consent or tradwife aesthetics? And how can urban housing or Holocaust education become the subject of a diploma project? This year’s MA diploma projects at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design once again show what currently engages the new generation of emerging artists and designers. The works on display look at social, environmental and technological challenges from personal perspectives.
MOME Art and Design Management and Architecture students, as well as Design and Visual Art Teacher students from MOME and ELTE all participated in a course exploring the subjects of built environment education and participatory design. The architects also received a practical participatory design assignment involving high school students, namely to design a new community space in the courtyard of the Szilágyi Erzsébet High School in district 1.
