MOME’s diploma season will once again begin with public diploma defences, where graduating students present the masterworks, theses, and portfolios produced to conclude their studies to the examination committee. The themes explored in this year’s diploma projects range from questions emerging at the intersection of the digital and analogue worlds to mental wellbeing, self-awareness, sustainability, critiques of material culture, identity, the body, and social norms through the lens of design, fashion, media culture, and design theory. MA diploma defences will take place between 1–12 June 2026, followed by BA diploma defences between 15–18 June. Following the defences, the diploma exhibition will be on display across several locations on the Zugligeti Road Campus between 13–20 June, featuring masterworks, student projects, and concepts. From prototypes and scale models to visual concepts and installations, the exhibition presents a wide range of the latest works from twelve MA programmes. Together, they offer insight into the questions engaging the new generation of MOME artists and designers, approaching social, environmental, and technological challenges from deeply personal perspectives. This year, the showcase will also be accompanied by a citywide poster exhibition displayed at seventy locations across Budapest, featuring works by previous recipients of the university’s Rector’s Special Award while inviting audiences to explore the projects of the MOME Diploma 2026. 

The diploma season will conclude on 26 June with a formal graduation ceremony for BA and MA students. This year, the graduating class will also be addressed by members of the MOME alumni community who have gone on to achieve outstanding success in their fields. More than three hundred students will take part in the landmark ceremony. Continuing a long-standing tradition, alumni celebrating milestone graduation anniversaries will also receive gold, diamond, and iron diplomas, bringing different generations of the MOME community together on the same occasion. 

The 2026 visual identity is built around a shared student experience: somewhere on every student’s computer desktop, there’s a folder named “MOME”. At the same time, the central motif of the event’s visual identity is an indispensable creative tool, one that continues to surface across the industry in both analogue and digital form. The visual identity was created by Panka Mihalovits and Alexandra Ökrös.
