One step closer to admission

Date: 2026.04.27
This year’s participants of the Tomorrow Belongs to You scholarship programme have successfully completed the PreMOME preparatory course. They are heading into admissions ready and confident, with many naming Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) as their first choice.

This year, twelve of the sixteen participants have applied to higher education, most choosing art and design programmes. It is especially encouraging to see several scholarship recipients from earlier years, who began their studies at MOME in autumn 2025 after completing the programme, now returning as student mentors to support the next group as they prepare.

Preparing through the PreMOME courses

PreMOME is MOME’s preparatory course series, offering a comprehensive overview of the university’s approach alongside intensive professional support for students preparing to apply. During the courses, participants build a solid foundation in portfolio development, improve their visual thinking, and receive feedback from experienced teachers and current students.

For twelve weeks, the scholarship students worked on MOME’s Zugligeti Street campus, developing their core skills through workshops, consultations and hands-on assignments, while gaining a better understanding of what studying at university is like.

“Without this programme, I wouldn’t have made it this far.”

In their feedback, participants of the scholarship programme established by the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design highlighted that Tomorrow Belongs to You created a safe and inspiring environment for their creative work. Many of them said the programme helped them step outside their comfort zone, act more confidently in what they do, and prepare more consciously for the admissions process.

Alongside professional mentoring, the sense of community the programme created mattered just as much. As one participant put it, they gained not only knowledge but also a community: friendships, an inspiring environment, and a group that supported them throughout their journey.

A new group of teachers has started the Tomorrow Belongs to You teacher programme

While MOME’s teachers and students play a central role in mentoring, secondary school teachers are just as important. They are supported by the part of the programme focused on teachers, which has now reached an important milestone. This spring, the Tomorrow Belongs to You teacher scholarship programme continued with its second group, offering professional and methodological guidance to secondary school teachers. These teachers are key to helping disadvantaged students consider further study in the creative industries, or a career in art or design, as something within reach. Teachers who joined at the opening weekend in March spent time on the MOME campus, where they learned about the university’s approach, as well as the content and aims of the Tomorrow Belongs to You programme. The sessions that follow will focus on applying design thinking in practice and bringing it into the classroom.

What happens when it is not adults, but secondary school students, who begin thinking about the future? Ten student teams presented their ideas at this year’s final, with participants reflecting together on the kinds of relationships that humans might develop with technology and nature twenty years from now. This year’s theme was the forest. The visions presented by the participants touched on climate change, urban life, automated systems, collective responsibility, and the possibility of reconnecting with nature. First prize from the jury went to Sketch Squad, with dECO taking second place and Erdei Remeték third. Seven special prizes were also awarded at the final, recognising the different strengths, approaches, and community values of the submissions.
