Interest in the Tomorrow Belongs to You – For the creative talents of the future scholarship programme at MOME continues to grow, with one hundred students applying this year for what has become a genuinely distinctive scholarship opportunity. Since its launch, the programme has supported forty students from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them gain admission to university.

Applicant interviews began on 10 January at the MODEM Centre for Modern and Contemporary Art in Debrecen and will continue at the MOME Campus in Budapest, as well as in Békéscsaba at the Szeberényi Gusztáv Adolf Lutheran Grammar School, Technical School, Art Secondary School, and Primary School on 22 January.

Since autumn, MOME’s expert team behind the programme launched by the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design has visited twenty schools nationwide, introducing the university’s programmes to around a thousand secondary school students. Presentations were held inZalaegerszeg, Békéscsaba, Baja, Debrecen, Nyíregyháza, Pécs, Székesfehérvár and Szolnok, extending the programme’s reach to smaller towns in Szabolcs County, the Kecskemét–Szolnok–Cegléd triangle, and the wider Székesfehérvár region.

The goal of the programme is to provide scholarships to nearly twenty students each year supporting them in successfully passing the admission entrance examination. This includes assistance with creative preparation, developing their entrance examination portfolios, and fostering their mental well-being.

The creative skills development semester is organised as part of the PreMOME SPARK course, with monthly scholarships for participating students provided by the National Talent Centre. Applications for the programme were submitted through the eContest platform developed by EOX Kft. by the high schoolers who also received book packages courtesy of Libri Bookstores.

The forest of the future: the final of the Jump into the Future! competition has taken place

What happens when it is not adults, but secondary school students, who begin thinking about the future? Ten student teams presented their ideas at this year’s final, with participants reflecting together on the kinds of relationships that humans might develop with technology and nature twenty years from now. This year’s theme was the forest. The visions presented by the participants touched on climate change, urban life, automated systems, collective responsibility, and the possibility of reconnecting with nature. First prize from the jury went to Sketch Squad, with dECO taking second place and Erdei Remeték third. Seven special prizes were also awarded at the final, recognising the different strengths, approaches, and community values of the submissions.
