Statement by the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design

The Board of Trustees and the Supervisory Board of the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, in a letter addressed to the members of the Senate, informed the University that, upon the sixth anniversary of its appointment, it will bring its work to a close and, following the entry into force of the relevant legislative changes, will transfer its founder’s rights to the newly established ministry responsible for higher education.

The University community has welcomed the resignation of the Board of Trustees and the Supervisory Board and calls for the launch of a transparent and seamless handover and reconciliation process.

Developments over the past eighteen months, along with the actions of the student and alumni communities, have demonstrated the need for a new operational framework to ensure the University’s autonomous and secure functioning. The current leadership remains committed to maintaining a standard of cooperation built on trust, mutual respect, and dialogue, with no room for intimidation or or abuse of power.

The University leadership stands ready to engage with the newly established ministry responsible for higher education and looks forward to further consultation. In the past eighteen months, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design has developed substantial experience in strengthening university autonomy and operating in line with European values. It desires to place this knowledge at the service of the wider higher education sector, supporting the work of sector leaders and professionals.

A MOME Szenátusának nyilatkozata

A 2026. április 12-i választással egyértelmű és megkérdőjelezhetetlen felhatalmazás született a tudományos szabadság és a felsőoktatási autonómia maradéktalan helyreállítására, valamint a szférának az Európai Kutatási és Felsőoktatási Térségbe való visszatérésére. A MOME tavasszal indított kezdeményezése ezekhez kínál kapaszkodókat: hogyan működnek a szabályok a gyakorlatban, és hova lehet fordulni, ha kérdésed van. Folytatjuk dr. Sebestyén Andreával (jogász, tréner, coach) beszélgettünk a határokról, a felelősségről és a tudatosságról, valamint arról, hogy mi kell a változáshoz.
